S220
Siemens has launched the SINAMICS S220 high-performance drive system, building on the well-established S120. Siemens announced the system in October 2025.
Headline improvements
- The new CU320-3 control unit runs up to 12 axes from a single controller.
- Faster safety: the safety cycle drops from 12 ms to 4 ms.
- Sensorless control that Siemens says comes close to encoder quality.
- Universal Modules: configurable power modules can simplify spares planning.
- Security built in: developed to IEC 62443-4-1, with encrypted drive data and checked firmware.
- TIA Portal integration, plus a smart operator panel and an optional Wi-Fi adapter for commissioning.
At launch, the range covers air-cooled booksize and chassis modules for 380–480 V.
Who it's for
The S220 is aimed at machine builders running multi-axis motion: packaging, converting, handling and machine tools. For general pumps, fans and conveyors, browse our V20 and G120C ranges. S220 is a separate system requiring application-specific specification.
